Tan/white wire at alternator

89 Camaro RS.
Originally 5.0L TBI
NOW 355 SBC, CARB.

up untill yesterday all was good in the world, when the car stopped charging, or at least stopped charging at full jam.

11.96V is what I'm getting at the battery. Post on alternator to negative at battery I get 11.96V. positive at battery to post on alternator I get 0.01V which is ok... Negative at battery to alternator case I get 0.01V which is good.

Here's a question, what voltage should I see at the tan/white wire at the alternator? Judging by the wiring diagrams I can find for the car it should be 12V switched...is that correct?

Re: Tan/white wire at alternator

Yes, the tan/wht wire is hot in run.

It originates from the 20A FP-FAN fuse.
