There is this black goo in my connector C105. Is this Carbon Conductive Grease, or did it melt. Its been that way since I bought the car in '92 and I always thought the connector was melted but just ran across something that is making me think this may be some sort of conduction grease that is used to keep water out, etc. Anyone know??

I doubt any grease in any connector with multiple cavities is conductive, it is more likely di-electric

Ha, you know, you are right. It is definitely all over the connectors, so you don't want them shorting out. Does anyone else out there have this brown/black goo in C105? Or is it just me?

There is brown goo all inside the C100 in these cars, and the bulkead connector in all my other GM vehicles.

I hate the stuff. They coat the insides of phone pedestals and copper wire runs with that gunk, too. It's like Vaseline on crack. It just doesn't come off once you get it on you.

so true. Someone recommended removing it with Acetone, that worked for me in my ultrasonic cleaner with the heater on. It took a long time and some scraping, but I got it clean enough to eat off of in the end, it looked new when I was done
