Question about spark plug wires

I hear about people using things like "8mm spark plug wires" for their cars as mods.

What's the difference between these 8mm spark plug wires and stock spark plug wires? Do the 8mm ones just deliver the spark quicker than the stock ones?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is 8mm the width of the cable?

TIA.

8mm are better because there have very low ohms rating so less energy is transformed into heat as it travels down the cable. 8mm cables do not increase the speed of the spark, electricity travels at the speed of light. Aftermarket cables will help to get a better spark.
