How do I get the shift light to work

I swapped out the auto tranny in my car for a T-5 not too long ago and I thought it would be cool to get the stock shift light in the lower right corner of the instrument panel to work. I put a bulb in there and it doesn't come on at all. Not during WOT blasts or normal puttering around town. I assume I had to jump some wires somewhere to make it work properly but I left that out. Can some one please point me in the right direction to make this work? Or does the ECM in auto cars not have a function for this at all? I remember reading somewhere in a thread on the boards that the shift light is activated by the ECM under the same conditions that are required for TCC lockup in auto cars. That means I probably had to jump some wires somewhere, right ? Any help is greatly appreciated .

You are going to run wires to the bulb, GM didn't put the wires in for auto cars. The wire you want is A7 on the ECM it is Tan/Black. Here's a wiring diagram to help:

So which wires will I need to run to the bulb? I thought the bulb was already wired up since there is a provision for it in the printed wiring behind the instrument cluster. I guess I'll need to run the wires to some other location instead from where the current will flow to the bulb.
