CEL diag mode problems

Hello all. Recently got my 83 chicken back from a family members house where it was being stored for over 3 years. The car had a serious rodent problem and I just got all the little chocolate sprinkles vacuumed out of the car. Plugged up my obd1 tool, and....nothing. Light stayed solid. So I tried the ol paper clip, same story. I’m wondering what my next steps should be? I’m not seeing any chewed wires under the dash or from the obd connector, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any. I’m just wondering what to do when it won’t enter diag mode?

He is asking you if your car has the Computer Controlled Carburetor (CCC) , or the "Crossfire" dual throttle body injection (Xfire) AKA "Ceasefire" by it's detractors . *

* This presumes your "83 chicken" has an 8 cylinder engine , although without further info from you as to exactly what you have it's just as possible that this "83 chicken" is a base model Firebird with the V6 , in which case it would be a carb . Could even be an "Iron Duke" 4 banger though , given the lack of details about the , , ahem , "Chicken" .....
