Unused wiring under the hood
Unused wiring under the hood
I have about 6 wires or bundles of wires under the hood that aren't being used. It would look a lot more organized without them. How do people here deal with that, just cut them, the easy way, or trace them all back to source then disconnect if unused, In the bundles and single wires there is probably 20 wires that are unused. Any thoughts and thanks

'Got any pics? Did someone remove the ECM or emission controls? Do the unused wires appear to be coming from the passenger side harness?...

Re: Unused wiring under the hood
The car which is a 87 Camaro had a 305 in it now it has a 355 in it and now it has carburetor, The TBI is gone., so no connection to the ECM, I added a new distributor and took that of the ECM AND i just added a electric fuel pump and it is off the ecm. So Tell me if you can , do I have anything left connected to the ecm. Also It had air in it . So that adds up to a lot of unconnected lines Most on the passenger side. Do you have any thought on this.

Of course you'll have to plug the hole in the kick panel when you remove that bulkhead connector...
Re: Unused wiring under the hood
I'm looking to remove my ecm harness as well. So far I've learned that it still controls the torque convertor lockup if you have an auto trans.
I'd like to hear if there is anything else it controls that I need to be aware of before totally removing the harness and ecm.

Re: Unused wiring under the hood
resolved the problem with the lockup when taking out my ECM , I really don't know enough about the shift kit that was put in the car. I wonder if I should be putting in a lockup switch, anyone. Thanks.
