De-pin wiring for unused items?
Would I have any problems with removing certain wiring from my cars new engine wiring harness that is useless to my car? For example, my car doesn't have A/C or the A.I.R set up. Would it hurt anything if I took the pins out of the connectors for this wiring that I don't need and just remove it all together to help clean up the clutter that I don't need?
Re: De-pin wiring for unused items?
It probably wouldn't harm anything, but if the wire looms are already whipped, what does it gain? A few ounces of copper and plastic aren't going to make the car any slower than an extra large beverage in a cup holder. If you were making up new harnesses it might make sense to leave out the unused circuits, but going to the trouble of stripping them out seems pointless. A good schematic will guide you around the wiring from connector to connector, so it can't be for troubleshooting.

85, just do it. I have seen A/C delete cars in junkyards and the extra wiring is just looped out of the way... Not pretty.
Which is why every single unneeded wire has been stripped out of my engine harness, including through the pass side pass-through. My EGR valve wiring is merely a foot-long dummy, and the vapor canister wiring is going to be repurposed (because the ECM no longer controls it). I had to basically rebuild half of the harness and re-loom it anyways (had to move certain connectors, replace others, and the looms were all shot), and had finally deleted the remnants of the A/C a year before the car was stripped, so it was done.

Re: De-pin wiring for unused items?
I am doing a maf to map swap and I already have to repin certain parts of the harness. I am also redoing all of the wire loom too. I just figured that while I am in there, if it wouldn't harm anything I would be doing it so that there weren't parts of wiring laying around that weren't hooked up to anything. I really am doing it just for looks since I am already in there, not weight reduction or anything.
