Headlights Go Out When High Beams Are Engaged

I have a 1986 Camaro IROC Z. My low beams work fine. A few months ago my high beams stopped working. I replaced the bulbs with Sylvania high beams but they still don't work. When I pull back on my lever to engage the high beams all of my headlights go out but my taillights are still on. Any idea as to why this is?

Probably a bad hi/lo beam switch on the column. It's located about half way up the column. Read this.
