Inverters - Any Recommendations?
Inverters - Any Recommendations?
I am looking to buy an inverter for powering a laptop in my car. The laptop I have (Compaq Armada series) has a built in/integral transformer so I need to plug it into a 110v outlet to power and recharge it. I did a search on inverters in this forum and did not find any info regarding good brands/model numbers. From what I understand laptops are very suseptible to power spikes so a 'clean' inverter is a necessity.
I would appreciate any input on what brand and model of inverters are superior to others.
Another option is to purchase extra batteries for the laptop. My particular one can accomodate two batteries (by removing the 3.5 floppy drive) for extended mobile life.
Thanks!
Mike

Pretty much any inverter will work for a laptop. You don't need high watt either. I have used a few over the years and the one I like the best is a "Tripp Lite" I bought from circuit city. I bought the 140-watt version. It has a great feature in which it automatically resets it self when power drops. Some brands you have to turn it off then on when the power fluctuates.
