Need some advice please
Need some advice guys. 87 Iroc z 5.0 TPI distributor. From what i remember its always best to go with AC Delco OEM on the electronics. Im having a hard time finding the OEM Part number for the oem dizzy. Is it that important for reliability to stick with ac delco or is autozone duralast just fine? I tried a cheap $64 distributor off amazon against by better judgment and its garbage. Also, is it good enough to just get the Duralast distributor and put an AC Delco ignition module in it? I still have my old origional but im wondering if the reluctor is crap and if its worth it to just replace the pickup coil and module on the old one. Im just hesitant to put anything but ac delco in this car when it comes to sensors etc...am i overthinking it? Just go with autozone?

One man's take on brand names ;"back in the day" , , , when the name on the box actually could be a determining factor in how well the component was manufactured , sure , buying the "better made" AC delco part made sense . But now ? When the same factory in Mexico or China is making the parts and the same exact part gets put into whatever branded box the part is gonna get sold as , no way will I pay a premium for a pretty AC delco box with the exact same part in it as the "everco" box has for a cheaper price . Call it a casualty of the "global economy" , but brand names mean squat nowadays , sad but true .
And here's some proof of what I just said (not distributors , but instead heater control valves) ; Look at the part number stickers on these two heater control valves I bought , the only difference is the date and production shift codes . One was an "AC Delco" and the other was an "Everco" . Notice something ? That both were made in the exact same factory in Mexico and only one came in a pretty "AC Delco" box for almost $20 more than the other ? We're getting ripped off big time on supposedly "Factory original" AC Delco parts ! Sure , they are ALL made in a "Factory" , but at the former quality a "Factory direct" component implies ? Well of course not ! All "name branding" means today is the same (inferior) part in an expensive box , buyer beware !
