Dash wiring help.

Hi. Ive been lurking on here for few years now and always found what i needed except now. My car sat for a few years and last summer i finally put it back on the road. I had it parked again for this winter, now when i hook up the battery, the key wont even be in the ignition and there is a ticking under my dash by the gauge cluster/light switch area, and the wipers get constant power, even with the key off i can turn the wipers on. My car does have an aftermarket alarm system thats been on it since the 90's it still works but could that possibly be the cause? Or what else should i check? The battery will also be drained after sitting for a couple days.

Re: Dash wiring help.

Sounds a bit like a sticking relay, but I can't think of a relay for the wipers. Have you tried unplugging the harness(s) from the wiper motor? The whatzits in the motor could click loud enough to sound like it's coming from the dash. Does the alarm system have remote start or anything like that built into it that could be bypassing the ignition switch? Best bet is to just eliminate possibilities until the problem goes away. With electronics a lot of that is simply unplugging things.

Thanks for the reply. No command start, just the siren when its touched. Il unhook the wiper motor and try it again.
