Headlights come up when key turned to on, even with switch off.
Hey everyone,
I'm currently dealing with a headlight problem. Unlike most trans ams my 1990 gta the headlights won't stay down. With the car off they close, and I have replaced the headlight switch and with the key off I can operate the on off and it responds. But when the car is on. They automatically come up.
I was trying to see about headlight module? Thats the middle one on the driver side near the firewall? I have a multimeter but not very good with it. If someone could recommend where to test things with it id apreciate it. My problem seems to be the opposite of others. The headlight switch in pics is the old one. Not sure if it matters at all for this, but the interior dimmer light scroll works...
Re: Headlights come up when key turned to on, even with switch off.
If anyone could help. Also when I disconnect the headlight module and put the key to the on position the head lights still come on but do not flip up...so is something not stopping the circuit and power? I'm so bad with wiring and electronics I'm just trying to think of anything
Re: Headlights come up when key turned to on, even with switch off.
So for future people, I solved the issue. My dumbass didn't realize in 1990 they introduced something called "auto magic" which is this smalls sensor on your dashpad by your speaker and if its dark. It makes the head lights come up regardless. So I had it in my garage and put a flash light on and wham they stayed down. Now you know.
