KM vs MPH speedo internals. Whats actually different?
I'm in the middle of swapping my Canadian 180km(120mph) speedo with a US 140mph speedo. Im wondering if the 140mph gear unit (pictured below) is the same as the whats in my 180km(120mph) speedo.
I understand that the US 120mph speedo has the same gear unit and motor as the 140mph unit, but the circuit board and the part that drives the needle are different.
What I'm hoping to do is swap the gear unit from my KM speedo into my 140mph speedo assembly—just the gear unit. The motor, circuit board, and the part that drives the needle, which is connected to the circuit board will be from the 140 mph speedo.
I'm trying to do this because my km unit is in much better condition than the 140mph unit pictured below. You can see the yellowed indicators. In my km unit, they are still perfectly white.
