No Spark need help.
Hello, I need help, I have spent days trying to figure this out. I am working on getting my 1988 Iroc with 5.0 TPI running. I have no power and, no spark at the distributor. Unfortunately, this car has been sitting in a barn for 12 years but when I parked it, it did run fine. The car has a newer distributor cap, wires and plugs replaced prior to being parked in the barn but still look good. Since dragging the car out of the barn I found it in its current condition and not starting. I have since changed the fuel pump with OEM, Starter with OEM, Spark module, and just now the coil with OEM from Auto Zone. Car acts normal when I turn it on and crank over the engine, and the service light is not lit on the dash.
What I have tracked down, since changing the Spark Module on the firewall, it is getting power to the Coil coming from one of the plugs that go into the top of the Coil, the from the plug coming from the engine harness but from there it is not being delivered out of the Coil to the distributor. With a test light the Distributor has no power. The plug that goes to the back of the distributor dose not light on a test light either. That is where I am stuck because I just put in a brand new Coil and I did prep the Coil mounting bracket by clearing and scuffing the bracket. I am looking for some advise on what to try next, please help! I would like to get this car back running and before moving on with other projects.
Thanks KJ.
