I don't have a pic cause my 89 is different, but what's missing is that the rusty black cylinder with the hoses going to it, held by the black tie wrap, is actually your washer pump and is supposed to be in that vacant area
Your Welcome. Now the big PIA is gonna be finding a replacement motor cover, your's looks too busted up for you to be able to put the pump back where it belongs. The wiper motor itself ain't all that hard to find, but oddly the cover is just about unobtainable ....
I plugged it back in.. felt loose... the one clip where I plug it into was real loose... it stayed, but nothing happened when I tried to squirt some fluid.. I didn't really get too involved with it tonight.. gonna have to get more in depth to see what's really up.. thanks for the help.
I don't think it's gonna work like that, it looks like it's been struck by something so hard that most of the plastic that holds the pump in is now broken and missing. This is a picture of what a similar unit is supposed to look like , see the circular area that's supposed to hold the pump? I don't see how your pump will stay in place without a new motor cover.
The washer pump goes there and its in the picture to the immediate right. Also missing is a tiny clip that holds the pump in place, it goes in that tiny window at the bottom of the cover in the second pic. The pump by the way looks to have the two hose fittings broken off. Should look like this.

Those washer pumps are notorious for failing almost from the time you install them. I cant count how many i replaced over the years. Some only lasted 2-3 cycles. If you look at my pic, there are two wires coming out of one the hose fittings. Basically i gutted the motor and used it as a connector. The wires are connected to the 2 contacts on the other end. From there they run to the remote mounted washer pumps in the later f-bodies, which are 100 times more reliable.
2 options:
1) get a later model WW reservoir jug that has the washer pump built into/onto it. Run the current pump wires and hoses to that pump.
2) get a universal inline WW pump and do the same.
But your cracked cover is going to let dirt and moisture to get at the circuit board inside the wiper motor itself. That should be sealed up somehow if you can't get a new cover.

Not VW .... W W (windshield washer?) the rock auto kit appears to have a mounting bracket that would attach to the firewall or fender well with a couple of drill point sheet metal screws.

Correct, thank you.
Mine died years ago, and I replaced it with a universal WW pump I bought at KMart.
IIRC. I mounted it somewhere near the brake booster using a bracket.
