Fan switch question

Hello everybody,

I do apologize for my many open threads at the moment, a bit scatterbrained.

I'm looking to replace my fan switch in an effort to remedy some messes from the PO.

I was looking at this one from hawks.

I know that we have a pigtail similar to the knock sensor on our cars.

I was wondering if this is a better option, or if there is a similar option available where you don't need to cut in a new pigtail..

I'm going to try and get a good look at the thing tonight, but I realized I had to buy a new pigtail for the knock sensor, so I figured two birds with one stone.

Thanks!

Re: Fan switch question

Since the stock pigtail (the variety similar to the O2 sensor) won't plug onto that, you'll have to change that out, to use that switch.

OTOH if you get the stock switch, or one like it, the factory pigtail will plug right in.

The stock switch turns the fan on at around 230 degrees and off at about 210. There's another one (SW555 maybe?) that operates at lower temperatures, but the rest of the cooling system needs to match it, otherwise the fan will run 100% of the time after it warms up.

Re: Fan switch question

So even if I swapped the pigtail and installed the switch from hawks, if the rest of my system hasn't been modified, it wont make a difference?

At the moment, my fan comes on as soon as I turn the car to "On" before starting it.

Annoying issue I am finally looking to resolve.

Re: Fan switch question

I thought you said you didn't want to change the pigtail?

I wouldn't change it if it was mine; I'd use the stock one rather than bastardize it; but that other would "work", as far as that goes.
