Hi all. My 90 RS 5.0 5MT turned off (right when I parked it thankfully) and now when I turn the ignition nothing happens. I have no electronics working other than headlights. The ignition switch had been working 100% with no flakiness (I also wiggled it, turned steering wheel etc). I can't see anything obviously wrong around the 12v distribution near the battery, and probed a bit with the multimeter ensuring at least going into the harness connections are good. Engine/body ground appears ok too.
From what I have read this may be a fusible link? Could anyone assist me which link would be the problem in this scenario? I can see what I think are 3 going to the starter, but is there another one that goes to ignition/somewhere else? Are they all in that same portion of the harness?
Any insight and help would be very much appreciated!
Re: Only headlights work, no acc, no ignition. Fusible link?
Double check the battery terminals and battery state of charge, ensure that the terminals are clean and tight. I don't know exactly where the fusible link is on that model, but you can almost always see where they have gone bad. Look for a purple 10 gauge wire with burn marks, and you have found it. Most often they are co-located with the positive battery terminal or the positive terminal on the starter.
