Fuel pump fuse blowing

1989 Camaro, was TBI but previous owner fried ecu and swapped to a stand alone Carby.
The fuel pump fuse keeps blowing, and I can’t find the short anyway, assuming that’s what’s causing it. I have replaced the fuel pump relay and even rewired the relay. Still blowing. Replaced ignition switch. Still blowing.
Also at the same time the fuel pump fuse started blowing the gauges fuse blew.
Currently have the instrument cluster out to swap to a Dakota digital one.
I have also unplugged nearly every plug under the dash and replacing the fuse and it kept blowing.
The car was running fine, then one day jumped in it to go and turned car on, drove down road a little and gauges went out then it stopped. And both fuel pump fuse and gauge fuse had blown.
very confused and any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Fuel pump fuse blowing

Perhaps the fuel pump is failing. If the engine gas a carb, why not convert back to the mechanical fuel pump & eliminate the electric pump. This would be a simple solution.
