Rear window defrost connectors

Last year I noticed the wiring to my rear window defrost had burn off the insulation. I replaced it with some wire and connectors I had. I decided to try and locate some better connectors. I used the third gen search and google search but have not been able to locate them yet. If anyone knows what type of connectors they are I would appreciate it. Both say PED. One had 11 and one has 16 on it.

Re: Rear window defrost connectors

Don't know the GM part number, but they appear to be insulated flag terminals.

Re: Rear window defrost connectors

It is way more common that people are looking for the Mating-Terminal (soldered to the Defroster Grid/ Contact on the Glass) to the Electrical Connector that you are looking for.
P.E.D. is just the GM Brand/ Logo from that era (Packard Electrical Division) for Electrical Connection Systems.

I don't believe those original Connectors are still available anywhere...

GM produces a "Universal" ACDelco replacement Pig-Tail, that may fit.
ACDelco: #PT2645

Otherwise, the only other option is probably to purchase an aftermarket Pig-Tail or Connector from a company like Dorman (produces the "HELP" product-line commonly seen in Auto-Parts Stores).

Re: Rear window defrost connectors

Thanks komet and vorteciroc for your help. I will check into those connectors. I have to get rid of the yellow crimp on ones I installed, they are too much out in the open.

Re: Rear window defrost connectors

Could you possibly re-cover the braided wire with some kind of loom or even a long piece of heat shrink tubing?

Re: Rear window defrost connectors

The connector at the other end (of the strut) should fit and its much more common. That w/ new wiring/grd terminal. Or maybe cut the OE connectors off and solder some new wire in place.
