Formula headlights go down but not up?

Happy Day after Thanksgiving. Very odd. My headlights will go down, but will not go up. Also tired to raise them with the manual **** and doesn’t seem like they are moving and **** spins pretty freely, are the plastic gears just wasted, but why would they go down? I have searched the forums and google and cannot find anything with this symptom of going down but not up. Any help greatly appreciated.

Why would they go down? Gravity. Have you opened up the case and looked to see what the gear teeth look like? There's an extremely high chance that either your gears are worn or the bearings have disintegrated. If you don't have much experience with it, it is a very easy fix to do. Lon at TopDownSolutions has the rebuild kits. Takes less than a half hour to do them both.

Most of the time the gears are fine, it's the little drive pucks that turn to dust. This shows a upgraded brass gear.
i have seen 1 car where the shaft was actually spinning inside the pressed on cast aluminum piece that helps drive the pucks. (Lower picture with crumbled plastic)

I picked up some new motors at the parts store, that did the trick. Will order the kits and rebuild the original motors with new pucks. FYI, whoever rebuilt these wired the right motor incorrectly, had one light up and one light down. I switched the polarity and they both started working in sequence.
