Turn signal issue

Hello folks.
New to the forum, and ive researched this problem with no luck. Car is an 87 firebird 5.7L.

When i bought it, right blinker indicator didn't work, would blow the turn signal fuse after about 15 min of driving. I checked every lamp and socket; no issues. Every ground i can see are good. Pulled gauge cluster and found indicator bulbs are fine. Decided to replace switch, now problem is worse. Fuse wont last more than 30 seconds with blinker on L or R. Even stranger, i can hear the fuel pump hum when using the turn singal. I saw the 3 relays for MAF and fuel pump had ugly wires, replaced the pigtails and relays with no change.

Stranger still, someone before me snipped a dark blue wire from the dash harness that plugs into switch and ran a wire thru the firewall to god knows where. I made the original connection with still no change. I checked the 3 wires coming from the fuel tank to body, no corrosion.

Looking for any thoughts. Thanks

Re: Turn signal issue

Solved. Multiple shorts to ground. Main wire loom for gauges running up to dash cluster is pinched between dash bezel and (metal bracket) mount for steering column. Appears to be factory, and if the case wow. Bad design. Dk blue, lt blue and a pink wire are frayed and touching the steering column mount. Shimmed them away from bracket to test, and all indicators/turn/hazard lights work. No fuel pump prime. Now to remove the dash entirely to gain access to repair the damage properly.
