turn signal diagnostics

im trying to figure out what's wrong with my turn signals. In picture 2 im pretty sure this is the front turn signal flasher. Its were the obd1 port use to be on this car. in picture 3 is the back of it, those wires might be crossed. haven't checked yet. This cars been rewired by a shop near me so wiring might be an issue somewhere. in picture 1 is were I think the hazard flasher is beside radio. When I turn the signals on the gauge arrows flash and the rear tail light area flashes but the front of the car does nothing. When I turn head lights on the front signals glow so I know its getting power. I did replace side marker bulbs but them things have never worked on my car so I doubt that was the issue or at least it didn't make a difference. I thought it was the flasher but after replacing it, it didn't do anything. even when I cut hazards on everything flashes but the front signals. can anybody point me in the right direction. im missing something. the only thing I can figure is voltage. when my vacuum pump is running with ac on and headlights and rear defrost my gauges will read about 11.5 volts, headlight will dim. if I cut accessories off headlights go back to normal at 13 volts. im planning on running 2 batteries in the future or a bigger alternator, but im not sure it would effect signals. fuse looks good too.

Re: turn signal diagnostics

Maybe someone here has a wiring diagram for the turn signal circuit. Austinthirdgen.com has alot of them for our cars.
Check your grounds on all 4 lights. Make sure your bulbs are making good and proper contact. IIRC these 4 lights are all tied together and when I was installing my LED bulbs i didn't get them seated properly and it caused issues with the system functioning properly,

Re: turn signal diagnostics

everything seems right on wiring but im no means an expert. what bulbs did yall use for side markers and front signals? I put Sylvania 2057A for front signals and Sylvania 194 for side markers. I read somewhere if you use wrong bulbs it can throw everything off.

Re: turn signal diagnostics

I used LED bulbs. Luyed, Superbright 1157-2057 repacement bulbs. The side were the 194 replacement. I had tried other LED bulbs that didn't lock in the socket correctly and it did not work. I did notice a new part # for the 2057A, the added a N, 2057NA .

Re: turn signal diagnostics

i went out this morning and replaced both flashers, side marker bulbs and park light bulbs again. when i cut headlights on, the park lights light up and the side markers now work. when i turn the signals on the park lights and side markers just continue to glow but the flasher is clicking. if i cut headlights off, the makers and park lights do nothing. based on info i got i think its either a ground or the switch itself. 2 questions, were is it on the car am i looking for the ground? i get the feeling by the looks of all the bulb sockets and the schematic it converges somewhere. if thats not it how hard is it to replace the switch? ill post a pic of what i think is the wires for the switch but im not sure which it is

Re: turn signal diagnostics

With the headlights off does your flasher click when you activate the turn signal? Also what about the rear, does it work properly or does it ack just like the fronts?

Re: turn signal diagnostics

were is this turn switch at? i traced the purple wire from the flasher and it runs with a bunch of wires into some plastic wrap up behind radio. i figured thats were it goes outside car. in my mind this switch is a connector but im not seeing it. the purple wire from flasher is new. im thinking its not connected to were it should be.
