I removed the passenger door to work on it and the dome lite stays on, I depressed the door pushbutton but still stays on. Is there some kind of contact that the door makes when it is closed, other then depressing the button, that completes a circut for the dome lite?

 

Unscrew the plunger and make sure the wire leads are still on it. They tend to snap off.

 

shouldn't you unplug the connector before unscrewing these? won't that twist the wires? can't remember how these work to know if the whole piece spins or not. better to double-check so you don't break a wire if it's not already.

 

You may be right actually. I just replaced mine and I cannot remember.

 

IIRC, the headlight switch can also activate the dome light.

I totaly forgot about this, For the camaro's the headlight **** can be turned to put on the dome lamp. Make sure it is not on.

 

did that , I removed the wires and unscrewed the plunger and checked them for continuity, they seem good, Will check the headlight switch, thanks.
