Help Identifying Wires

Hi there,

Found a connection that went into complete meltdown

The green and black to green and black looks like a simple connector

However the red to red and black is a bit more of a specific connector

Any one Able to help me figure out what these power? And any solutions to replacing these connectors?

Thank you

Pass side along firewall

Re: Help Identifying Wires

All of those are concerned with the HVAC system.

The green ones are for the compressor. The red & blk carry blower motor power. The black, all the time; the red, in high speed only.

Yours are as totally destroyed and wasted as everybody else's. Not just these cars, but about EVERY GM car from the late 70s up to the early 90s, has that donkey plop. I recall at one time there were 5 GM vehicles in the possession of my immediate family, including my own, that ALL had that problem.

Search this forum using the Advanced search. Put in my userID and the phrase "burnt to ashes". Enjoy the beautiful state they sometimes end up in. Follow the instructions to get your blower to work right again. Whatever you do, DO NOT attempt to put back the same type of connectors you have, unless you just enjoy causing yourself pain misery and extra work.

Wow, thank you. Your other post emphasize how crap this plug design is.

Okay so the green ones are easy with a sent of slide connectors, what about the red to black and red wires? It's a single wire the splits to two? Anything going on inside that connector? Or is it simply just a Y?

Re: Help Identifying Wires

No, just a connector.

Not sure about the other wire. Doesn't look factory to me, looks like somebody just wrapped it around the red one. Trying to guess what some g00b hacked into your car at some unknown time in the deep past is mostly a fool's errand anyway. Like getting sent to the store for the right antifreeze for a VW bug. Track it and see where it goes; expect it to be some kind of monkey mischief.
