ecm control?

i have a 91 305 throttle body injected car. im about to start my engine swap. im changing the injection type and will be using a holly HP ecm. my understanding is that the factory ECM only controls the fuel injection. i want to verify this so i can simply remove the ecm and factory wiring completely and replace it with my new setup.any suggestions from experienced engine swappers is welcome.

Re: ecm control?

Fuel injection, spark timing (distributor), emissions equipment (AIR, EGR, CCP, closed loop), fuel pump, and the TCC lockup.

Re: ecm control?

The ecm does a few things. It controls the TCC lockup. The coolant sensor by the thermostat is connected to the ecm to turn the fan on. It might do more.

tbi ecm doest’t have fan control. There is a cylinder head temp switch on passenger side head that controls the ground side of the relay .
