Tach issue 1990 Formula

Hello everyone. In the past, I have had several of the 86-89 variety of IROCs, where I had to yank the cluster and perform the standard resistor repair to get the tach accurate (as I recall, was usually reading higher RPM prior to repair). Those worked fine after the resistor repair. This is my first Pontiac variation (1990 Formula 5SPD/TPI), and I know the tachs are quite different. The accuracy of the tach (when working) is fine...The issue I am having with this one is that it basically nose dives/drops on hard acceleration (and generally hard acceleration over 3k RPM). The engine itself does not stumble at all under this same load and pulls nicely, and my Diacom tach reading is correct on my laptop when the issue occurs on the dash tach. Under lighter/medium acceleration, the tach does not drop out at all. Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated here. TIA
