Had a question about odometer stuff

I have a 1984 Berlinetta Starship. I just put in a new digital gauge cluster and saw that the mileage reads around 240k miles. There is a on board computer in it that isn't original to this car, but I'm not sure how the odometer system works in this car. So I'm wondering if that mileage is accurate to this car or pulled from the computer?

Odometer mileage is stored in the Speedometer cluster. This picture shows the back of the Digital cluster,...... the ROM chip visible in the small "window" on the back of the cluster is the Odometer chip. You can remove this chip from the original cluster and install it into the replacement cluster to retain an accurate odometer reading after a cluster swap.
