What is this?

What is this?

I found it tucked under the carpet right where it sits, under the fart (dead) pedal. I suspect that it belongs under the dash because I've always wondered why my dead pedal sat a little high, and the carpet next to it tore and wore through as a result. Whatever it is, it has a 14-pin harness coming in, nothing else going in or out, and I've looked through all the component drawings in the shop manual and haven't seen anything even close

Re: What is this?

Do you have brake lights, tails, rear side markers and rear turn signals? I don't see a blue brake wire like a Formula has, so is this for your 87 TA?

In my 87, that looks like the connector that plugs into the harness that runs back to the rear lights, through a black plastic conduit that's tucked under the edge of the carpet. Yours' mate might be hiding behind that rubber panel, stuffed down under the edge of the carpet, or maybe stuffed up and out of sight of your picture. Or maybe that harness was removed for some reason, like for a different style taillight swap, and it was never replaced or is laying in the back or under the carpet somewhere between front and back. Of course, if you have working rear lights, then never mind lol.

Pretty sure that's the module for the DIC.

I'm guessing that's exactly what it is.

Any idea where it's supposed to be mounted?

Re: What is this?

"Exactly" where it's supposed to go,... no; but the wiring is only so long so you don't really have a lot of options. IIRC I have found them behind the carpet a couple times and behind/above the kick panel once of twice too,..... I'm pretty sure I just ZIP tied mine under the dash / hush panel to keep it off the body.
