Charging problems

I've been having some weird charging problems with my car. While I'm on the gas it's charging fine, but as soon as I slow down the car "surges" The engine kinda dies then surges back up and you can see the voltage surges with it. Then while I'm stopped the reading goes down past 12v. When I accelerate again, the car hesitates bad. It only really does this at night time when I got headlights on and stuff. I changed the battery, belt, and alternator, but nothing changed. I even cleaned up all the grounds and battery terminals. Does anyone have any other suggestions? THis is very annoying at night time to have to put my car in neutral at a light and keep the engine revved just so it doesnt die.

If your RPMs are dropping below 500 or so then your alternator may not be turning fast enough to keep your voltage where it's supposed to be.
If you have underdrive pulleys and they are not matched to maintain good RPMs on the alternator then the voltage will drop.
Remembe that since you are runing an MSD box it needs good voltage to maintain propper spark on the plugs. If the voltage is low then it will not function right and you will end up with hesitation until the RPMs go up.
Now if the car does not idle well then that needs to be addresed before you can troubleshoot the charging system.
