Did paperclip test (fan 1) and the fan motor is good. Did airconditioner check while the motor was cold (just started car to check) and the fan came on for a brief moment and then cut off. Does this sound right or should the fan stay on while the a/c is on regardless of engine temp?

 

Don't know what your problem is but fan should come on when the ac head pressure hits a certain point. If it came on momentarily then shut off that it probably normal. When the engine is cold and the ac is on the fan should cycle on and off as ac pressure changes. There is a very good article in the tech section of this site about cooloing fan operation. Willie explains in depth about the parameters of the dual and single fan systems.
I have had a lot of problems with fan relays failing. I have more info if you want drop another post and I will try to help. Danno
