No reverse lights or E-Brake Dash light

Since i bought the car a year ago, i never can get the reverse lights working. And, when i start the car, the Brake light on the dash lights on like it should for a second and goes out, but when i pull the lever up .. it never comes on. I have a 5 speed manual and i tore everything aprt looking for the wires and plugs. Went under the transmission and made sure the 2 plugs are connected, but no prevail. Anyone know what makes the lights go on???

Okay I'll start from the top. Is the reverse light switch good? You can take a voltage tester in front of and behind it to make sure power is being transmitted through. If there is no power behind it and there is before than the switch is bad. If the power goes clear through trace it back to the hatch where you can find it in a connector with the fuel gauge under the locking storage compartment. See if you're getting power there. Just do this 'til you isolate it. Mine don't work either and I can't find any wires in the console that go to it. The wire going into the switch should be dark blue and the wire leaving should be a light green. This will run to that connector in the hatch. For the parking brake, there should be a tan or white wire leading from the switch to the cluster.

These electrical problems are often hard to locate, Good Luck!
