I just got my car running since I rebiult the engine, and the SES light came on. i check the code and its 43. So, my Auto X Ray says it only knocks on start up, yet the ECM still retards the timing all the time. The knock value on the X Ray is either 1 or 2, so I know the knock sensor is sending data to the ECM.

My question is, Why is the ECM retarding the timing when it is receiving no knock signal?

Any help Please.

 

Ok, I just scanned it again and it said NO KNOCK and yet it had 5 DEGREES of knock retard.

Whats up with that?

 

I'm having the same problem with my 1990 Camaro. I Hope somebody can help us solve this problem.
