If its cranking hard but doesnt turn over check to see if its getting spark(plugs, wires, distributor, rotor), and check to see if its getting fuel(pump filter lines). That will be a good place to start.

You say you changed the coil cap, rotor, wires, and plugs. Did you do anything else to the distributor that would change the timing. In other words, did you move it when the hold-down was loose? If you didn't, there is no reason for timing to be off. Its a dumb question but did you make sure the plug wires are going to the right plug? You also say you have spark. How do you know? Did you actually pull a plug out and checked it. You can do this by cranking the engine while you put the plug close to something made out of metal. Be carefull though! Did you also check the gap on the plugs when you changed them?
If you are getting spark and fuel, there is no reason (unless you got a completely messed internalls in your motor) for it not to fire up.

Make sure you also check all the connections at the distributor. Also is your car fuel injected or carbed?

it if fuel injected. i pulled #1 wire off ditributer and the spark was observed from cap to wire. As far as the movement of the distributer Idont think so I cannot get the bolt loose to remove my dist. I was going to replace it in case the pickups were bad.
I believe the wires are correct Iwas told to remove the cap and #1 spark plug. then place a piece of paper in the sparkplug hole and then slowly turn crank till the paper poped out and where the rotor pointed was #1 and then put the other wires in order of fireing after that.

How long has this been happening for?? Could it be flooded??? Is there a strong fuel odor?

The Z has been down now for 1 month. I have been trying to fix it off and on as I have time. I was told it might be my ECM is this possible?

The only thing i can think of is if you put the plug wires on the cap starting from number one and going counter clockwise, I think that it is supposed to go clockwise, not positive though. But if you did that or vice-versa the firing order could really be off. The only reason i say this is because even if you check for spark the way stated you will still ge spark but that wont tell you if the timing is correct. Plus what you did to verify that you had the number one spark plug will only tell you that you have the number one spark plug doesn't mean the rest are right as stated above. And the computer at least when mine went bad went into limp-home mode, and the car still ran, but it didn't run as well as normal. Hope this helps some.
