Phantom hatch motor wire (where is your home?)
My Iroc had been stolen and someone cut the wires in the back to the cargo light and hatch release/motor. We have got everything paired back up except one white (actually cream) colored wire with a small connector on the end. The motor is stuck in the down position and can't figure out how to get it operating again. First thing is to figure out where that wire connects to (that wire was not cut and has the original connector on it, so my problem is just to find where it plugs into). We have one white wire going to the cargo light and it works fine. I borrowed a mechanics book of wiring diagrams for '86 GM cars and have a Chilton's manual, but just can't find where this thing goes. Any help would be greatly appreciated as we have spent hours trying to figure this one wire out.
I sure would hate to have to break into someone's car just to see what that wire is plugged into. Unless someone wants to look for me???

I'm trying to recall where I disconnected mine from when it died, I believe it went to the sensor on the hatch receiver, somewhere near the microswitch that senses if the hatch is open or closed.

My hatch motor on my 86 IROC just broke and when I went to take it out, the wire you are talking about was hooked to nothing, but everything was working. I know I didn't tell you what it goes to, but the motor should work without it.

Yea, I got the thing working without hooking up that wire. The only problem was, besides the wires to the light being cut, was that the motor was out of sequence. Just flipping the pulldown catch with a screwdriver put the motor in action and returned it to the up position and works fine ever since. Apparently that wire was there for some sort of option or something like that, so thanks... I'll just leave it alone then...
