Swapping 145 MPH cluster into my Camaro and I have a question

Swapping 145 MPH cluster into my Camaro and I have a question

Hey all; I got a really good 145 MPH speedometer at a local junkyard today for $6. It's just the speedo, not the whole gauge cluster.

Now, from what I have been told by fellow members of this site a while ago, I can supposedly just remove my 85 MPH speedo and put the 145 MPH one in its place. The 145 is cable-driven, and from what I was told, it doesn't matter because the rotation of the speedo cable and stuff is the same for both the 85 MPH speedo and the 145 MPH one. Is this true? Am I gonna hafta recalibrate my gauges to work with the 145 one?

Also, the car that this speedo is going into is a 1988 sport coupe, which had the 5.0 TBI swapped out for a 1986 5.0 TPI; dunno about the tranny. However, the speedometer in the car is the original one it's always had. Is that speedo cable-driven?

One trick I herd that you can test that is if you get a electric drill. One that isnt that strong like those cordless one's. Attach it to the back of the speedo and give it all its got for 20 seconds or so. Try the same thing with the other speedo and it the MPH look the same then you shouldn't have a problem. You can also calibrate it by doing something like that But I forgot how, well there are tons of web pages that would tell you anyway.
