speed controlled windshield wipers
speed controlled windshield wipers
is it possible to control the speed of ur wipers depending on how fast your going, since the faster you go the more rain gets on ur window etc etc... lets say with an electric speedo, how would you measure the signal without taking any power from the speedo wire and screwing up the actual speedo display. everything else i could probably figure out

Invest in a bottle of Rain-X...once you get above 20 MPH, you won't need to use the wipers at all.
Besides, if your wipers are already on high speed, and they still can't keep up with a heavy downpour, it might be wise to slow down...

honestly, i dont know how to do this...but if u figure it out please make a tech article on it.. i would like to know this..seems like a kewl idea, however i dont have the time right now to figure it out as i am going to college and am away from my car all the time
Do you not have variable speed wipers already? Why do some people want to take away automatic functions (like fan control) and then want to make manual functions automatic? If you want to do it and have the time to, that's all good. But it's kind of a dumb idea in my opinion.
Don't let that stop you, and please don't take it personally.. It's just one dude's opinion, obviously. Have you seen the newer GM radios that are sent a speed signal to turn up the volume as you go faster to compensate for road noise? hehe.
I have to agree with the Rain-X statement. I rarely use my wipers at all. Maybe just to apply windshield washer fluid on dry days, but as often as I wash the car, even that's a rare occurence.
