Fuse problems
Fuse problems
Please Help....
I keep blowing fuses for my dash / guage lights or the taillights. When my dash light fuse blew I replaced it with a larger one. Then after I did that, my tailights fuse blew. So I put a larger fuse in for the tailights. When I had a 30 amp in the dash and 30 amp in the taillights, the dashlights slowly dimmed and after about 5 seconds the taillight fuse blew. Can someone please tell me what I need to be doing or where I need to be looking to fix this problem? Thanks!

You've got a short somewhere. Replacing a blowing fuse with one larger is a good way to start an electrical fire. Just like a house, in a car, you should never replace a fuse with a higer rated one to solve a blowing problem.
I couldn't tell you the corrolation between the brake lights & the cluster lights fuses blowing since they are 2 seperate circuits but, I'd say some wire hunting is in your future to find a wire shorting out (at least I'd guess there's a short somewhere based on the problem).
Don't know what kind of car you have but, here's 2 links to wiring diags for camaro's. The wiring is 95% the same as a 'bird (minus the rest some for head/taillight wiring & other frivolous misc crap between ..)

I was looking at the wiring diagrams in my chilton's and it shows that there is a correlation between the taillights and dash lights via the headlight switch. I guess i'll start there...seems a good a place as any. Thanks!
