Would this fit behind a 2.8? I have MPFI. Is there some kind of modification to the CPU when going from auto to manual?

I'm not sure if it would fit or not. Again it was out of a 93 with a 3.1 V6.

Yes, it will fit; this is the package you have been looking for!

The 4th gens used the old 3rd gen V8 transmissions for the V6 cars! You get the good 1 1/8" input shaft with 26 splines! You can also use the 3.1 flywheel on your 88 2.8 engine.

Transmission wise, I think your ECM will be trying to lockup the converter that doesn't exist but so what? If it doesn't see your 4th gear switch it probably won't do much anyway.
