FS: 700R4 tranny, Florida
I have a 700R4 tranny I was going to put in a car with a blown tranny, but the deal fell through. It came out of a Chevy 1500 truck with less than 60K miles. He put a manual T-56 I think in it, so he offed this one because he didn;t want it cluttering his garage. No torque converter. I will have a new pan gasket and filter in it for whoever buys it. Fluid I drained looked clean as well as the pan. Asking $225 and I would prefer pick-up. I'd ship, but it probably won't be cheap as it would have to be freighted in some sort of wooden box. I am located in Stuart, Florida right off I-95 for anyone interested.

I'm not exactly sure, but I think it was an early 90's truck...'92 I think, maybe '96. Those are the 2 years that are coming to me, though honestly I don't know. The numbers off the tranny are: 8676358 cast along the side, 23 712 0138 is stamped on the side, as well as a couple odds and ends cast numbers: MD8 and 27. These last two are larger numbers.

There should be a code stamped into the case on the right side just above the pan. It should be letters and numbers. It might be newer than 92.
ex. 2 YD M 2 145 C

I will double check tomorrow for the mix set of numbers. It could be out of a newer GM. Would that involve much in the way of it being too different from something that would work in a third gen? What is different in the years on a 700R4?

2CJM071B is in that location right above the pan on the right side. On the right side on the tailshaft has 8642547-2 cast into it. Hope that helps in identifying the tranny some. Otherwise I will probably just throw it in with the sale of my '89 Trans-Am as a spare for at least parts to someone when they rebuild it's tranny some day down the road.
