Re: AFR Eliminator #1040's!
Are you able to get other SBC AFR heads other than the 195's?
If so, I would like to price a set of race ready 220s and 227s with 65cc combustion chambers and angle plugs.
Thanks in advance.
You can email me at: dreamr3488@aol.com at your convenience.
Thanks again,
Darryl

Re: AFR Eliminator #1040's!
got them on the 2nd, UPS driver was a female, she used a dolly to bring the heads up to the door then pushed them off, meanwhile they slammed onto the concrete sidewalk. No padding what-so-ever in the box they shipped them in exept for 2 peices of plywood at each ends. Made a claim into UPS about it and said when i start my car up and theres a problem they owe me heads.
I would have thought buying AFR products ( one of the more exspensive compared to others ) they would have the heads wrapped up better in the box. When i bought Dyno dons headers i could have drove a mac truck over his box and they wouldnt have damaged the headers lol. Oh well it is what it is. Ill find out more come next month when she gets fired up
Only 1 good thing came out of this exsperience, and that was dealing with you rick, i thank you for all the email returns, hat goes off too ya, not so much to AFR's shipping proccess

This is very odd. I have ordered 2 sets of AFR's, and the packaging was top notch. My buddy has sold over 40 sets, and there hasnt been one issue in regards to how the heads have been packaged or shipped. In fact when I got mine, I was amazed on how cool the boxes were. I even took a pic of the boxes, but they have long been deleted from my camera.
Are the heads damaged, and if so where? It seems like your issue is with UPS more then anything.
I am glad you were happy with my service, but I have to say sorry for the time delay. The delay was out of my hands and in AFR's.

FYI, next time something like this occurs, document it, (i.e. pics/video), turn the young lady around and refuse delivery.

Re: AFR Eliminator #1040's!
the box they came in are damn near the exact size of the heads, the playwood on both ends are almost the exact width and height of the heads, but theres nothing in the center to keep anything from damaging them. Like i said, no bubble wrap, no nothing. My issues i think are both 50/50, AFR's fault for a very poorly package job, and UPS for sending a woman to do a mans job :P
I visually looked over the heads and dont see any cracks or bent studs, my fringers are crossed.
I figured i would give AFR 1 more chance to prove themselves to me lol I just ordered a set of black coated valve covers from them, ill see how the package is with those. If you sell good product then you should have good shipping, IMO. But maybe i was just a fluke, i did wait over 2 months remember
All the anger will probably go away when its fired up, running good, and am cruising down the road lol

Re: AFR Eliminator #1040's!
will do, only problem was i had the heads delivered to a co-workers house so his parents would be home and sign for the package, there in there 70's. So they didnt know what to do, if it was me i'd prob would have refused it.
I did make a claim in the UPS though so its on file if i do have problems with them

Re: AFR Eliminator #1040's!
ill try to explain alittle better. Take a pair of aluminum heads, put them in a box just big enough for the heads. Now put them on a dolly, then push the box off the dolly and have them slam on concrete. Thats about 69lbs of aluminum hitting concrete. Thats why am worried.
Rick, i wish i knew that i would have went through you.

But are the heads damaged? It doesnt appear so. My TFS heads that I bought years ago were not packaged as well as the AFR's. Food for thought!

visually i dont think so, i will find out soon enough. Regardless i have a valid point, poor handling on UPS part, poor packaging on AFR's part. Your telling me this situtation would not aggrovate you in the least?
Not getting into a pissing match with you about this, am not gonna highjack this thread about my situation, rick asked, i responded. Ill drop it now

Re: AFR Eliminator #1040's!
find a set of 113 L98 heads and have Lloyd Elliott work them over, keeping a 1.94 valve. Still get some lift out of that on a 305. MAYBE a 2.00 valve but 2.02 is gonna limit things alot. He can get decent numbers out of those heads ~$800 for LE1 setup which includes all machine work, cleaning, porting, and valvesprings. LE2 is 1000 and is setup for either 2.00 or 2.02 valve
