Feeler thread 408 w/AFR heads
I'd like to put out a feeler thread on potentially selling the engine in my SS to fund the build-up of my other engine. There is nothing wrong with the engine it runs fine. It's still in the car if you wanted to hear it run or even drive it. The engine is a 509 casting 400 that been bored .040 over. It was rebuilt 2 years ago (have receipts) and has about 3K miles on it. The rotating assembly is a stock crank, rods (upgraded bolts), and flat top speed pro hypers (coated skirts). The pan is a stock type milodan gold anodized pan (used 1 piece pan gasket) and a stock melling oil pump. The heads are AFR195s with the 74cc and using 1.6 roller rockers. The cam is a Lunati Voodoo flat tappet (262/268 adv, 219/227@.050, .499/.521 w/1.6 RR) on 112 LSA that is installed 4* retarded so it is on a 112 CL.Timing chain is a comp cam 3 keyway unit. The block was decked when rebuilt and compression is calculated at about 10.3:1. The idle is nice and smooth as a result of the mild cam and the engine has tons of torque. I don't have any dyno numbers and I don't have time slips. I just broke the motor in and took it real easy as I was tuning in the stealthram setup on (not for sale). Most of the miles I have put on it have been data logging as I drive to work (26 miles one way). If you have a G body I'd also sell the headers (1-5/8 coated dynomax) and the 2-1/2 in. dual exhaust on the car. Please give honest opinions on what the engine is worth. Realize that by the time you find a good 400 and machine everything and buy all the components needed, buying an engine like this is quite a deal. I'm keeping the valve covers and stealthram intake as well as the serpentine setup. I still have the V-belt brackets if needed and I think I have a high flow std rotation waterpump. I have an engine hoist to help load this in a truck. If the feedback here shows I can sell the engine for enough money to fund my next project then I will officially put it up for sale. I might try craigslist first unless some members willing to travel to the Louisville KY area will pick it up. Thanks for your time.

sleepertt,
I did send you a PM. I will sell the short block and heads seperately maybe even the intake. Hasn't been as much interest as I thought.
