careful with this guy as he has been banned from here before as "smallblockking" and as "DANZWS6" and who knows how many other names. do some research and be wary.

Re: SLP line lock **BRAND NEW** $120 SHIPPED!!!
Do a search of this guy's other posts and you'll find that he's tried to sell this "new" line lock before and it's far from looking new, there is a reason why he didn't post pics to the thread.
I've had a post open on the Problems / Help / Suggestions / Comments forum for almost 2 weeks about the large number of people around here like this guy that have 0 or very low post counts (number of posts in the tech forums) while having many, many posts on the sale forums that just appear to be trying to take advantage or even rip off the members here (specifically mentioning this thread and a few others that seem to follow the same pattern, though I have no way of knowing for sure with most of them).
I don't know if you guys agree or not, but it just seems like it is hurting the boards in general, and to me at least its an important deal because people buying items from the classifieds here are not as protected as even buying off ebay or similar sites. I subscribe to these forums so I get a notice about new posts, and it seems like lately more often than not most of the ads are closer to this guy's thing than those that I know are entirely legit, bringing it to the point that I want to buy stuff, but I don't particularly feel safe enough spending my money except with long time members that I've dealt with before, making this forum increasingly less useful.
Over in the problems/comments section I got the answer from the webmaster that adding some of the additional restrictions that other boards have will just result in people spamming the tech forums with crap, which I somewhat understand but I'm not sure is as big a problem as they think.
Do you guys have any ideas or suggestions?

Re: SLP line lock **BRAND NEW** $120 SHIPPED!!!
Some of the other forums I've seen as little as 50 posts are needed before you can place an add in the classifieds sections (or as many as 500), but then you run into the problem of spamming the tech boards as you've said.. however one can at least do a search to see what the member is posting. Not really a reliable solution.
I don't really have any other suggestions.. unless a member in good standing can vouch for a new person, but more often then not people make contacts here instead of already having friends prior to joining.

Re: SLP line lock **BRAND NEW** $120 SHIPPED!!!
PayPal only and no gift thing. Pics first with an ID of pic. I know some people become a little exasperated with the whole pic thing but a, "it looks like a Holley carb", doesn't get it. USPS money order offers less protection than one might think and is slow to react. I lost over $300 to Chris Ciccarelli in SC aka zj8urimport amongst others. He somehow kept one step ahead of people on here and a search yielded no info until several people were burned almost at the same time on different items. I'm wondering if the ,"no ebay ads" is a good idea anymore. There's some protection there also. COD's are a little pricey but are better than losing your whole purchase. The market is ripe for a good escrow service but half of them are crooks. I don't know if there is a good answer to this.

People will rip you off on ebay also if you try hard enough, but then you have a couple of steps along the way that you can try resolve it.
Brisk, I'd have 0 issue with dealing with someone like you here, even though we tend to post in different forums so I haven't dealt with you, but you've been around and have posted enough that I'm pretty sure that you're not going to risk hurting your relationship with the board and I could track you down otherwise if I had a problem.
Watajob, you'd make me a little more nervous just because you don't have a location posted, but again, you've been around...
I would expect that most people around here would know exactly what they're getting into with me since I've been around forever, post all over the place and have enough info in my posts that you could probably figure out way more than is good for me just by looking around the 'net.
I feel that somewhere around 50-100posts would probably be a reasonable limit that would eliminate most of the problems that I'm concerned about, and if someone was going to just abuse it on the other forums it would be obvious by that point. Requiring a decent picture posted would probably fix most of the rest of the problems. Add that to the obvious "playing it safe" on the 'net stuff and you could probably prevent most of the problems (sure, there will always be individual issues due to misunderstandings and unique circumstances or people just being stupid, but you can't do much about that)
