Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
Yeah I was under the impression that he was going to ship his out a week after he posted this message, I guess he did not?
Dave (who has none to send anyway)
Dave (who has none to send anyway)
I talked to Joe at "The Parts Place" he wants me to ship out my shifter to them in a week. Because they are getting ready to do a show right now. They have been waiting for the other people, I told them about that have complete shifters to call them back but they never did....
B&M the current owner of Hurst gave
"The Parts Place" the green light to
reproduce it if they want too.

dont know if this will go anywhere 1991 rs has not been online since "Last Activity: 10-02-2011 10:55 PM" either he doesnt care anymore, is busy, look like it is on the rest of us now. I personaly do not have the money to buy one of these and hand it over to someone eles, even if it is for the greater good for third gens. I also have not seen any on ebay, craigslist, other forums , in for sale sections but if i find one ill post up my findings.

Hopefully he is just busy. I'm sure there are a lot of people, including me, that don't want to see this one die. I would love to have one of these things in my ride.

Ok I called Joe at The Parts Place. He never did get a unit so I'll be pulling mine out and getting it over to him. What would be super helpful is if I can get an instruction manual for it so I can check to see if I have all the parts. Let me know if you have documents around.

Thanks for the kind words and help with finding the instructions. I have had it lying around for a while so I might as well help out. As I said in my other post I've flipped flopped around on the shifted, keeping it around just so I can say I have one. I like hard to find parts lol.

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
Well I found a NIB one on ebay....tried to buy it but got out sniped on the auction. Oh well, hopefully mine has all the parts around for them to use as a model to reproduce from.

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
What ? So you didn't want to sell to me since you sold to the other guy and then you bid on the NOS one on ebay after I told you, unnecessarily jacking up the price? Oh and I didn't win it either. Don't get it, looking to sell only to try and buy another NIB one???

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
Take it easy guy. You really need to read the full post before you go off on people. He didn't even sell his shifter. He decided he wanted to keep it. The reason he bid on the one on ebay was so that he could send it to The Parts Place to try to have it brought back into production because he wasn't sure he had all the pieces to his shifter. So I think you own him an apology because all he is trying to do is help you out.

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
Then why does he tell me in a PM I can't buy it because he's selling to you? Very fishy, and if you guys need a new one to reproduce, why don't you yourself buy it instead of having soeoe else buy it for you? I have never come across such a fishy dealing as this. When I make a deal I only buy, I never sell) i simply offer to pay immediately and that's that. My feedback here reflects that, the same on ebay, I get a very weird feeling from this.

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
I would be in for one - I have an idea. I would throw $40 toward finding one to reproduce - with the intention that either the money would be taken off the new price once the new shifter is reproduced or sell the one that was purchased and proceeds going toward reproduction one. We could afford to buy one as a group and no one is out that much $ at one time. I would only do it to a guy with high rating and an Admin.... POOL RESOURCES for the better good of all.

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
I thought the main issue was just finding one NIB? I have been looking as well but have come up empty handed.
I am all for pooling money together but who is going to take the responsibility to hold everybody elses money? Also, that person is going to need to camp out on ebay and/or craigslist.
If somebody with the time and resources to make the money pool happen I will gladly contribute. But like everybody else I don't want to lose my money no matter how small the amount.

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
If there is a company serious about reproducing one they could come up with the 500$ a NIB one goes for these days. The one on ebay now went for 510, there was a NIB one on there in May, also went for around 500. But windowrattler didn't sell his to me, so I assume he sold it to theno1prince? Someone else got the one on ebay??? Next time I'm entering $1000 in my sniper instead of 500... F it!! Should have kept my mouth shut to windowrattler about the one on ebay...oh well, live and learn.

Hopefully it will work out. I would really like to have one of these but it's not like I am not going to drive my car if I don't get one. I am just going to keep hoping for the best and maybe one of us will find a NIB.

I also do wonder why the parts place wont just buy one their self then sell it after. It seems a bit odd too. I o not have 500 buck to drop on a shifter. I dont car how cool it is....its still a shifter .

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
I'm sure they have had the same problem as everyone else. They can't find one! And I seriously doubt they have the resources to track one down. Another thought, occasionally it gets posted on here that one is up for sale, but has anyone tried contacting The Parts Place to see if they were interested in purchasing it? Or maybe that's their way of seeing if there is any real interest because seriously, who wants to mail a $500+ shifter to someone they've never met before? I know I would (in this case anyway)...IF I owned one! (Yes, Turbo. That means I did not buy the one from windowrattler )

I haven't pulled mine out yet to send to them but that is still my plan. They want to buy one so its not like you are donating it. They really want a NIB one though.

Actually interested in two of them. Dang wish we could get these done.

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
I would love to get one, but for a 2nd gen. It would be great to have a 3 and four speed model so guys could use it either way. I know there other guys out there (like me) who want to put a 4 speed auto in their 2nd gen, but we don't have any nice shifters to choose from. All we can do is buy a Shiftworks conversion for our sloppy and old factory shifter. A Dual Gate would be amazing, for both 2nd and 3rd gen. cars.

Re: New Hurst Dual Gate 2 Shifter #292000
I wish it were that easy. Unfortunately, it isn't. That kit from Shiftworks only works for the factory Dual Gates from '67-'68 GTOs and the '70-'72 Cutlass shifters. The kit doesn't work well for the aftermarket Dual Gate made for second gens. The gear positions are off just enough to cause problems. There was one guy (I forget where I read about him) who took the detent and some other parts out of a Dual Gate 2 and put them in a Dual Gate for second gens. He said that it worked very well, but it is pretty expensive to hunt down both shifters and then destroy one to get the other to work like it should. It would just be nice to have one available to buy for ones needs, whether it be for a 3 or 4 speed auto, or for a 2nd or third gen.
