Re: 82 clutch z bar
not sure if they are the same or not? i think the difference between the t10 and t5 were the bell housing bolt pattern, not the linkage?

82 was the only year for the mechanical clutch linkage.

Re: 82 clutch z bar
I like this thread, cause it has photos of the Z-bar. Good to still have this info. I myself prefer this method of clutch release over the hyd., because of the simplicity, which means reliability. This set-up was used since Christ was a corporal, and is proven. Of course the components have to be correctly aligned, lubed, and installed, but will give years of dependable service. We all know how difficult it is to find this rare set-up, so naturally people will talk down at it, and build up the new hyd. systems, mainly cause they're easily available. But I just assume keep away from an extra reservoir on my firewall, next to the master cylinder, along with another cylinder inside the bellhousing, which have the potential for leaky seals.
As for the transmission question, these mechanical, or hyd. release methods have nothing to do with the transmission. It is mounted before, and in the bellhousing, and doesn't know or care what tranny is installed behind it.
