FS: Brand New Forged 383 LT1 Short Block

Hey guys

Tim in Wyoming 82601

Short block was built by Jerry Twogood at Jteam Custom Engines, here in Casper, Wyoming (307) 237 0939

Please see pics. See third post for pics of the components before they were installed.

Includes original PCM, crank balancer/dampener and hub, timing cover, optispark, stock aluminum accessory bracket, power steering pump, and water pump.
AC delete pulley if you want it.

Even at 12.5:1 compression, You can run this engine on pump premium because it is reverse cooled and uses aluminum heads, which keeps the heads and combustion chambers cooler than on an old school or non-reverse cooled engine.

Here are more details:

-1997 2 bolt main LT1 block with all new plugs and bearings-mains reinforced with Pro-Gram "straps"-see pics.
-12.4:1 compression if you use 55cc combustion chambered heads (still safe for an LT1 running 91 octane fuel)
-block cleaned, clearanced, decked, align bored, etc (bored using deck plates for perfectly round cylinders)
-bored .030 over using deck plates for a perfectly round cylinder bore
-Studded mains with Pro-Gram 2 bolt main "strap" girdles over machined stock caps (VERY nice, strong pieces)
-Mahle PowerPak forged and coated -5cc flat top pistons with rings that came with the kit
-Callies forged 6" rods
-Callies/Howards Cams Track Smart 3.75 stroke forged/nitrided 4340 steel crank (1 piece RMS)
-Rotating assembly and stock flywheel (for T56 tranny) all balanced by Jerry at Jteam Custom Engines
-I also have a flexplate for you, if you wish to use an automatic transmission with this engine.
-Brand new Melling oil pump (standard volume so it doesn't suck all the oil out of the pan)
-New oil pickup and tube
-Lifter spider and hardware
-Brand new water pump gear/drive shaft bearing
-Stock LT1 oil pan (YES it clears the stroker crank and rods) and windage tray (not installed yet in pics)

All you would need to complete this engine is a timing set, lifters, and pushrods, and rockers, if you want aftermarket ones.

More Details: Please see the last several pics that show the Pro-Gram straps installed-they are black forged steel pieces and cost $625.00 for parts cost and machine-work on stock caps. The stock caps were machined down a bit to allow the Pro-Gram pieces to mate with the caps. This procedure makes the 2-bolt mains VERY strong.

I'm selling this for a few hundred less than I put into it. Machine work was expensive, and the rotating assembly alone was $2000.00

Price is $4350.00 shipped, and I will not part this engine out.

525-550 fwhp N/A hp with 55 cc combustion chambers and 244/254 cam and 12.4:1 compression, on PUMP fuel.

I take paypal or a money order: timmytina350@msn.com

Questions? you can call me at 307 399 1696, or you can call Jerry, my builder, at 307 237-0939

Pro-Gram straps installed over stock machined caps. Stock caps were machined so the complete surface area of the caps mate with the Pro-Gram pieces. This is stronger than a stock 4-bolt main configuration.

Re: FS: New 383 LT1 Shortblock

Update guys!

OK, the shortblock isn't completely built yet....Jerry was waiting to build the whole engine...he was waiting for the heads, which are not done yet.

He didn't want to put the shortblock on the stand then take it off then put it on the stand again for the heads and stuff. He's a one man operation, so that is understandable.

He told me this morning he would have it done within the next two weeks, after I told him forget the heads because I am selling the short block. At the moment, he is busy with two LS1 engines and a Ford and a Dodge engine.

Here are some pics that I do have, however.

If that was a gen 1, I'd suck it up in a heartbeat. Why you selling? Haven't you been waiting to do this for some time now?

Re: FS: New 383 LT1 Shortblock

You could always do an LT1 swap

I am also selling my roller which is already set up for the swappage.

yeah I worked hard to get all the parts and everything for my swap, and now I have to sell it because I need the money.

It sucks.

I'll feel OK if I get my money back from it, though.

I've had questions about the Crankshaft.

I call it a Callies crankshaft. It is a Howards Cams Track Smart crank that is made from 100% American 4340 chromoly steel forging. Howards Cams has the forging and then sends the forging to Callies for finishing.

It was not easy finding a crankshaft for a one piece rear main seal, forged steel, and made in the USA, for around $1000, but this one fit the bill.

Re: FS: New almost built 383 LT1 longblock

Hey glws but I do have a question.... I have a 1997 383 lt1 and I haven't had it installed since I have changed directions and will be a ls1. Question is this.... will that 383 work with a stock pan? I was under the impression I would need a stroker pan for mine, and if I need a stroker pan any ideas on a pan with a link?

Wanted to add even though I changed directions with the Trans Am this engine will go into something one day maybe my 96 Camaro

Re: FS: New almost built 383 LT1 longblock

The stock pan works. My builder installed it and made sure that the rods clear the pan.
