Re: 85-92 TPIS Tuned port injection HI performance lower intake manifold
Hello. Would you possibly be interested in this setup. Its a modified LT1 intake done by LT!intakes.com. It comes with fuel rail with 19lb injectors I believe. Two throttle bodies the remote thermostat housing and even the 90 degreee heater hoses to go on the two little nipples that were added to the back of the intake. I'd let it go for $400 plus shipping. I live outside of charlotte NC
Re: 85-92 TPIS Tuned port injection HI performance lower intake manifold
I am looking to try and get the TPI base as I have the large tube runners. I may just go with the TPI Vortec base. Then move to the Vortec heads. I am just getting parts together so still open for the most part. My only goal is to keep it looking close to stock TPI.
As I can get the above for $400 when everyone is wanting $600+ for the other used TPI base. I may just get the tools and port my TPI base instead. Unless anyone still ports the TPI base around here?

Also thanks for the help.
FUNIROC the general consensus is the Vortec manifold picture flows no more than stock base do some searching here
if it were me I'd look for conventional ports or go to miniram if you want better than stock tpi performance
I searched craigslist a while back and found an edelbrock high flow non vortec base- was under $200 gotta look hard - good luck
Re: 85-92 TPIS Tuned port injection HI performance lower intake manifold
I would get this crate motor if I go with the vortec base. Chevrolet Performance SP350 385 HP Base Long Block Crate Engines 19417624. So you don't think the Vortec base would flow enough for that engine?

where did you get info that the SD vortec base flows sames as stock?
not doubting you but i never owned one and from seeing pics online the ports look like the aftermarket tpis accel ect around 1.7 inch diameter
Would like to have had some flow numbers. I will keep looking. Looks like it would need to be ported for the fast burn heads on the SP350 to get all the air flow. But they can be an upgrade for the TPI setup.

looking at pics the gap in between the ports on the runner side have a small thin gap just like the tpis accel bases
It's been awhile since I've had one in my hands and I never wrote down any measurements or flow numbers. iirc the runner side is larger but the restriction in the intake is mid way through the port to the outlet side. Something to do with entry angle to head, low inj position and not enough meat to port it right without welding. Pretty much flaws they all have.
Re: 85-92 TPIS Tuned port injection HI performance lower intake manifold
Its not the same as stock who said that?!
So its not as good as an accel big deal.
Havent ported stock base in a long time. Can be done but it takes a lot of time;stopped doing them cause noone believed it could cost more than 3-400 bux.
If you take it to the limit of the casting youll be right about what a stock edelbrock flows.
I agree guys are high what they are asking for htis stuff, try ebay. Once in awhile youll see a realistic price.
