Do you know if the 3.42 will fit my car easily?

I'm no mechanic so...

I was told 89+ thirdgen all have 2 series carrier and should fit my rear better than let's say 88- thirdgen.

someone told you wrong... if you car has 3.xx or numerically higher gear it is a 3 series carrier if you car has a numerically lower than a 3.xx rear gear it is a 2 series. you can get 3.42 or 3.73's for a 2 series carrier but they are aftermarket parts.

I have a 3.23 gear and a 3-series posi that will be a direct swap for your stock gears. PM me if interested.

Not sure if you need someone else to confirm that they will work for you, but I still have the gears and posi if you are still in need of them.

Your close ----> You forgot about the 3.08 gears ( 2 SERIES ) that many automatics were equipped with from the factory !!!!

Don't expect that you can just pull your existing gears out and drop another set in their place. If you don't KNOW what you are doing you better let a pro handle your gear swap !!!

All these posts mean NOTHING if your looking for replacement gears for your ride !!!

Your Sig shows that you've got a 2.77 9-bolt !!! You HAVE to buy Borg Warner gears if your looking to replace your original gears !! 3.08's will fit your existing 2-series carrier; or you can find a 3-series carrier with 3.27, 3.45, 3.70 Ect.....

I'm pretty sure that I've still got a set of 3.27's in the garage somewhere...... I had them pulled when I got 3.70's installed. If your still looking just let me know and I'll try to locate them. ( I *Might* even still have a 3-series carrier as well )

If you still have everything to convert my 2 series to a 3 series 9-bolt I would be interested if the price is good.
