hi, i have the harness and ECM for the 89 (from an 89 iroc 5.7/auto car) 89 is a one year only setup-it has the airbag, cold start and VATS. 86-88 does not have air bag or VATS in the system, and 91-92 has air bag, no cold start and MAP. will sell it for 250.00 plus shipping from bakersfield, ca 93314

Re: Need ECM and engine harness

Sparkseverywher, FYI firebirds and camaros wiring harnesses are different. Firebirds battery is on the drivers side and camaros are on the passengers side, so you will have to modify a camaro harness it fit a firebird.

Re: Need ECM and engine harness

dokken10 is right about the battery placement. also this car had dual fans, if your car had a single fan you would have to modify that part of the harness.

blackroc68 says the harness and computer is different and wont work??? the motor is the exact same in the camaro and firebird and the computer has the same part number. if he knows something more please explain.

Re: Need ECM and engine harness

No problem modifying for battery placement. Mine is moving to the trunk anyway so I new I was going to have to do something. I also upgraded to an aluminum radiator and two fan setup so I'm stilll okay on that page. I checked the parts and asked a few friends and they think the harness will be fine. It'll be by far better than using the corvette harness that is on my V8 now. So I think i'll go with Ron's Harness and ECM. If anyone has an arguement that is backed up with proof I'll listen. Thank you to those who took the time to reply.

Re: Need ECM and engine harness

89 was a one year TPI setup. 89 deleted the 9th injector (cold start) but retained the MAF sensor. The question now would be which year TPI setup are you installing in your 89 firebird?

Re: Need ECM and engine harness

Without getting into alot of details and knowing about the different battery locations between camaros and firebirds. 85-86 TPI units the same, 87-88 TPI units the same(87 heads and up 4 center bolts angles changed). 89 1 year setup. 90-92 the same. If you are installing a 85-88 TPI unit Ron's wiring harness will not have a connection for the 9th injector. I'm parting out a 88 TPI Trans am and I will have the engine, tranny and engine harness later today. I've disconnected 90% of the harness so far and its in great shape.

Re: Need ECM and engine harness

So heres my deal. I got L98 V8 5.7 350 from an 85 Corvette with all accessories included. I new that some things where in a different spot on this engine and that the wiring harness was much different. I was hoping to upgrade the harness for the engine while to about my same year of Firebird. With that said I'm open to more ideas, suggestions, parts. thanks again.
