I screwed up and bought a stock 88 PROM off of here and forgot that it is equipped w/ VATS. My car is a 1987 and is not setup w/ VATS. So I need a 87 L98 Auto PROM.

I guess one w/ the VATS dissabled would work as well if its 88 or 89.

Anyone out ther have one?

 

Your best bet is to buy an adapter and flash eprom on moates.net and have somebody burn the chip for you. Its very simple. If you can't find someone to do it, send me a PM and I'll burn it.

 

What will this cost. Will this route be better than having a stock chip made by TPIs parts ($65). That chip will have the VATS disabled as well as the cold start injector dissabled.

 

If you don't plan on modifying the chip, then TPI Parts is the best way to go. Otherwise you need an adapter board ~$35, Blank Chip $2, Eprom programmer $85, and software $30 and a PC. You can easily change VATS, Fan Temp settings and of course all spark and fuel curves. The DIY forum and moates.net is great for info.
