I have read in older post that the belt wobbles without it. Whats your experience?

Re: Serpentine Smog Delete Pulley

Can't you just remove the smog pump and use a smaller belt ? vs buying a delete pulley and running the same size belt?

Re: Serpentine Smog Delete Pulley

Actually on my Camaro, I took the pump off and just rerouted it and I didn't havta change the belt at all, now i dont know if the previous owner had a smaller belt on for some reason but i used the same belt

Here a pic of how to reroute the belt compared to a stock setup, just ignore the bottom setup.

Really? They are the same pulley? It doesnt look the same.

Edit....I have a A/C delete pulley, it doesnt fit in the smog pump bracket.

Re: Serpentine Smog Delete Pulley

You cant go shorter you have to go with a longer belt otherwise it wont work. I have it done to my car, the belt is nice and tight with no vibration or wobbling even with the engine revving @ 5k down the track. Read the thread posted above, it even says go longer.

Re: Serpentine Smog Delete Pulley

It depends on how you have it routed, if i put a longer belt on mine it wont be tight at all.

If your jus wanting to put a delete pulley on here's a couple for sale: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/82-92...Q5fAccessories

You can, for the pulleys I bought I was told I might have to buy a smaller belt but I didn't have to. My friend put a set on his bird and he did, you jus havta reroute the belt and see how much tension it has in it.
